911 Operations Is More Than Answering Phones. MLTS Compliance Should Be More Than Programming a Phone System.
When a call comes in from a large office building, a campus, or a senior living community, your telecommunicators shouldn’t have to guess where someone is. But incomplete dispatchable location data is still the norm for many multi-line telephone system environments, and the problem rarely starts with the technology. It starts with how organizations think about 911.
How Does 911complypoint® Benefit ECCs & Public Safety Agencies?
Too many MLTS operators approach 911 compliance as a configuration task. Program the system, check the box, move on. 911ComplyPoint® approaches it differently. We work with MLTS operators to build 911 compliance from a safety management perspective; helping them understand not just what the law requires and how to sustain compliance as their organizations change over time.
Our certification program is built on the ISO 45001 occupational safety standard. That framework treats 911 readiness the same way a responsible organization treats any life-safety obligation, not as a one-time project but as an ongoing discipline. We evaluate procedures, not just programming. We ensure that the organization has a process for keeping information accurate as people, locations, and systems change.
The result for your center: calls from certified MLTS environments arrive with accurate, complete, actionable location data, and the organizations behind those calls have the training and the processes to keep it that way.
Technology solutions alone are not enough! We ensure that technological advancements and updates in communication systems are implemented correctly, and that the organization has a plan to support them, further supporting the effectiveness of emergency response systems nationwide.
How We Work With Your Center
During the on-site testing phase of every full audit, we contact your center directly to coordinate live 911 test calls. We work within your scheduling requirements, minimize the impact on your operations, and ensure your telecommunicators are prepared for test activity.
We also review the supplemental location data your center requires and confirm that the organization’s MLTS is formatted to meet those requirements. That includes addressing character limits, field truncation issues, and any specific formatting conventions your center uses. When we find discrepancies, we work with the organization to correct them before certification is issued.
The result is a certified organization whose 911 calls your center can rely on.
What Certification Means for You
When a call originating organization earns 911ComplyPoint® certification, it means their system has been tested against your actual PSAP environment, not a generic standard. Their location data has been validated. Their notification procedures have been confirmed. Their staff understands their role in maintaining compliance.
One Minnesota ECC 9-1-1 and GIS Specialist put it this way: this audit process results in better information sent to telecommunicators than 90% of the calls their county receives.
That outcome is what 911ComplyPoint® is designed to produce, for every organization we certify, in every coverage area where we work.
